Professional tooth cleaning - because brushing teeth alone is not enough.

Cleaning and prophylaxis at Max 36

On one or two days a plaque of food and bacteria, called plaque, is formed on teeth. This biofilm consists of billions of bacteria that develop a fresh metabolism, digest food residues and excrete acids and cell toxins. These aggressive substances cause tooth damage (tooth caries), gum inflammation (gingivitis) or even bone decomposition (periodontal disease). Despite thorough dental care, many patients fail to reach all the niches and niches in the oral cavity and remove these bacteria. The resulting documents are colored by influences such as smoking or dyes contained in the food.

Regular precaution is indispensable.

Professional cleaning should be carried out regularly every six to twelve months. The frequency of individual factors depends on this. Studies show that hygiene and nutritional habits have a decisive influence on oral health. In case of caries-active dentition or periodontal damage, a PZR should be performed at least every three to six months. In addition, the regular application of fluorides is recommended after each PZR treatment, which harden the molten tooth.

Proven efficiency.

Already in the eighties, studies have shown that regular periodontal tooth cleaning can significantly reduce the risk of periodontitis and caries - and thus the likelihood of a dental disease. The long-term success of regular systematic caries and periodontitis prophylaxis has been proven.

The treatment

The PZR is carried out by trained specialists. These are dental prophylaxis assistants (ZMP), dental specialist assistants (ZMF) or dental hygienists (DH). As far as they are clinically visible and achievable, the PZR includes a complete removal of hidden soft and mineralized dental plaques above (calculus) and below (concrement) of the gum. For this purpose hand instruments (including special scratches, finest abrasive paper, brushes or floss) and ultrasound equipment are used.

Then any remaining discolourations and deposits on tooth surfaces or crowns can be removed with a powder jet and polished with a rotating rubber gum and a prophylaxis paste. This smoothes the surface of the tooth and makes it difficult to reposition the floor coverings. Finally, all tooth surfaces are treated with a special fluoride lacquer to protect the enamel.
