One competent opinion is good. Two are better.
Because it is about your optimal treatment.

Every dental treatment is preceded by a thorough preliminary examination, a comprehensive anamnesis and a corresponding consultation.

Your first visit to us – a comprehensive initial examination.

During your first visit to our practice – after a brief written questionnaire and anamnesis – we discuss your wishes, problems and dental history in detail. After that, we start your clinical examination, including the head, muscles, mandibular joint, lips, cheek mucosa, tongue, gums and of course your teeth.

We usually examine your teeth first and record your findings on an odontogram compiled individually for you. The whole lip area, oral mucosa and the tongue are checked for irregularities. Establishing your Parodontal Screening Index (PSI) measures the gingival pocket depth and therefore the health of your gums. We will check your mandibular joint and chewing muscles in detail by means of palpation. We also check the functionality of any already existing dentures.

This may be followed by a detailed x-ray examination, a vitality check, a percussion test of your teeth, a plaque dye test or a caries risk test. We follow this up with a personal discussion, summarize the findings for you and discuss possible or necessary treatment with you in detail.

Detailed mandibular joint and function diagnostics.

To diagnose the mandibular joint and its functioning, we examine possible limited mobility of the mandibular joint, complaints, pain, crunching and rubbing. If required, we arrange a clinical examination of jaw opening, chewing muscles and mandibular joints, as well as an x-ray of the whole jaw.

In case of complex disorders, extensive instrument-based, radiological or psychological procedures can be used for diagnosis and treatment, or other specialist areas may be brought in. Based on the sum of findings from this examination, we will initiate your treatment (e.g. bite tray, physiotherapy, osteopathy and new dentures, stress management etc.) in consultation with you.

A look “behind the scenes” – digital x-ray and 3D.

Today digital x-ray is one of the most important components of modern and minimally invasive dental medicine. A digital x-ray is an imaging process in which, contrary to conventional x-ray film, a special digital imaging plate is exposed.

The digital technology in our practice offers you many advantages: we receive your digitized dental image within seconds, which we use straight away to assess your dental status, which we can discuss with you and our colleagues.

An unbeatable advantage of our digital x-ray technology is a radiation exposure up to 90% less than for traditional analog technology. Furthermore, digital x-ray images also have a higher picture quality compared to conventional images and provide an excellent image of tooth and bone structures. In addition, they can be processed immediately on the computer and brightness and contrast are easy to adjust. Apart from the thorough examination of the oral cavity, x-ray diagnostics are of key importance to be able to assess the quality of bone in the area of the “new tooth (implant)”. Digital Volume Tomography (DVT) has established itself especially in the field of implantology, as the procedure allows exact three-dimensional images and highly accurate reconstructions of bone structures. This DVT x-ray data is evaluated with the help of software.

The jaw bone can be examined and assessed on the computer from all angles. Information about the exact position of important anatomical structures can be gathered in advance and flow into the operation planning. The harmful exposure to radiation is significantly higher for DVT than for a normal panoramic image, but considerably less than for a CT scan.
